What do we mean by eCommerce 2.0?
In the late 90s we had the first generation eCommerce sites. This sites were transactional, some had a good shop front and keen online shopping features, mostly, pioneered by .com pureplays like amazon.com et al. Many retailers added online departments and teams into their head office functions and started to trade as additional sources of revenue. The technology behind the shop front was still pretty basic in those days but the largest companies were fortunate to invest in online payment systems and fraud prevention systems. Continue reading
